Chamber Music

Jim Parakilas, director

Bates is unusual in having faculty-directed chamber music. There are usually 6 or 7 or more small ensembles (string quartets, wind quintets, piano trios, sonata pairs, etc.) happening simultaneously. Students are grouped according to ability or interest; each group plays in concert once or twice per year.

Feel free to contact Jim Parakilas, director at if you have any further questions regarding the Chamber Music Program.
