In 1946, Bates hadn't played in three years due to World War II. But by December, Bates would become the first and only NESCAC college ever to play in a bowl game.

The so-called clear-cutting referendum on Maine's November ballot will be aired in a panel discussion at Bates College on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The 7:30 p.m. roundtable will take place in the Edmund S. Muskie Archives. The public is invited to attend at no charge.
