Local residents receive Class of 1997 Scholarships

Christopher J. Gousse of Lewiston and Brian H. Houston of Poland have been named inaugural recipients of a Bates College scholarship fund awarded annually to children of Bates employees.
Students named Philip J. Otis Fellows

Bates College sophomores Matthew Ensner of Asheville, N.C., and Takeshi Miyamoto of Tokyo, Japan, have been named Philip J. Otis Fellows and will receive $5,000 grants for research and travel to promote greater understanding of environmental issues and the connection between the environment and spirituality.
Bates Junior Sports Camp Filled

Both sessions of the Bates College Junior Sports Camp, a half-day program for youngsters 5 to 7 years of age, have been filled. The sessions run June 29-July 10 and July 13-24.
Black History Month events scheduled at Bates
