Modern Dance Company to perform annual spring concert

The Bates Modern Dance Company, under the artistic guest direction of Lionel Popkin, presents its annual spring concert in a series of three performances March 27 and 28 at 8 p.m. and March 29 at 2 p.m. in Schaeffer Theatre. Tickets are $6 for general admission and $3 for seniors.

College Choir performs 'Messiah'

The College Choir, under the direction of John Corrie, will perform Handel's Messiah Parts II and III March 28 at 8 p.m. and March 29 at 2 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. Date-rape activist to discuss higher education response to sexual assault

Music major to perform thesis concert

Bates College senior Nils van Otterloo, a music major from Marblehead, Mass., will perform "The Nexus: a fusion of Indian classical music and Western jazz" at Bates College March 21 at 4 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Forest protection depicted through film, slides, music

"The Big Wild Roadshow", a multimedia presentation on current logging practices in the Northern Rockies, will be shown Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Benjamin Mays Center. Presented by Joshua Burnim and Martin Stephan, two forest activists from Idaho working to preserve the "Big Wild" forests in the Northern Rockies, the evening features slides, video and live acoustic guitar music to illustrate illegal logging activity on public lands. The public is invited and admission is free.

Holocaust course to screen film, host discussion

Escape From Sobibor, a film about the uprising and escape of 300 Jews from a concentration camp in Poland, will be shown Sunday, March 6, at 8 p.m. in Room 204 of the Carnegie Science Center. The film, sponsored by students of the History of the Holocaust course, is open to the public free of charge.
