Bates violinist to perform
Bates violinist Lesley A. Rabach, a sophomore from Cheshire, Conn., will perform with pianists Frank Glazer, artist in residence, and James Parakilas, professor of music, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The public is invited to attend free of charge.
The program includes Beethoven’s Sonata No. 8, Bartok’s “Rhapsody No. 1,” Jules Massanet’s “Thais: Meditation” and the first movement of Henri Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto in D minor.
Rabach has played the violin for 17 of her 19 years. The winner of violin competitions at the Greater New Haven Youth Orchestra and the Hamden Symphony, Rabach also spent a summer studying and performing at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.
