Bates music students to perform

Bates College continues its Noonday Concert series with a student performance of experimental music from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall on Russell Street. The performance will feature several unconventional compositions, including Lou Harrison’s “Threnody for Carlos Chavez” for viola and Indonesian gamelan.

The Bates College Jazz Band, conducted by Mark Manduca, will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall.
