The Department of Theater at Bates College presents "Prometheus Bound" by Aeschylus Thursday, May 24 through Sunday, May 27. All performances will be held in the Shaeffer Theatre.

Former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich to speak at Bates Commencement

Robert B. Reich, U.S. Secretary of Labor during President Bill Clinton's first term, will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree and speak at the 135th commencement at Bates College Monday, June 4, in an outdoor ceremony on the quad in front of Coram Library.

Seven Bates students receive Phillips Fellowships

Seven Bates juniors have been named 2001 Phillips Student Fellows and will each receive grants of up to $10,000 for summer research projects.

Medical, law school acceptance rates high for Bates graduates

Bates' acceptance rates for medical school are significantly higher than the national average. A September survey showed that 80 percent of Bates students and alumni who applied to medical school in 1999 were accepted.

Bates students present work at Geological Society of America conference

Five Bates students presented work last month in Burlington, Vt. at the Geological Society of America's Northeastern regional conference, attended by nearly 900 geoscientists from New England.

Bates awarded grant to fund ten community service fellowships for students

Bates men's tennis returns to NCAA championships

The Bates College men's tennis team has earned its second straight berth in the NCAA Division III tournament. As the sixth seed in the East region. the Bobcats (9-3) will take on New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rival Trinity (Conn.) College (13-4), the third seed, at MIT in Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday, May 12.
