Orientation for the Class of 2012, held Aug. 25- Sept. 3, helped ease first-year students into Bates life by offering something for everyone: lugging belongings into residence halls, sailing the Maine Coast by big boat, visiting a wild and crazy student activities fair, and considering Bates classicist Margaret Imber’s metaphorical Convocation talk equating love with a liberal arts education.
