Bates alums producing sustainable food

The College’s 2008–09 initiative Bates Contemplates Food got cover treatment in the recent Bates Magazine with “The Maine Course,” a collection of eight profiles of alums producing food in Maine.

As one reader responded, “A key virtue of this year’s special focus is that it opens doors to action even as it loads responsibility onto our shoulders. Hurrah for Bates and a liberal education!”

More such stories — audio and video — are online, as is a multimedia story from the magazine feature “Wake Up Call,” about Professor of German Denis Sweet’s experiential Short Term course.
