A letter in the Portland Press Herald by Dr. John Radebaugh '48 of Falmouth, Maine, supports a federal single-payer health reform bill introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. The proposed legislation will "cover all of the 46 million Americans who lack coverage by eliminating deductibles and restoring free choice of physician."

Bates sophomore catcher Gordy Webb (Hampden, Maine) batted .611 (11-for-18) with a .632 on-base percentage and a 1.111 slugging mark while not committing an error behind the plate during the Bobcats' 3-2 week last week.

Bates College senior Stacia Saniuk (Sharon, Mass.) batted .778 (7-for-9) and posted a 1.444 slugging percentage along with a .867 on-base percentage during a 3-1 week for the Bobcat softball team. She hit two home runs, recorded six walks, had four RBI and four runs scored.
