Athletics updates due to Feb. 8-9 snowstorm Nemo
LEWISTON, Maine — Winter Storm Nemo continued to create cancellations for Bates athletic events on Saturday, with the slalom portion of the Dartmouth Carnival and the Tufts Cupid Challenge track and field meet both called off.
Yesterday, squash and swimming events were cancelled and the track and field schedules were jumbled as well.
Altered contests as of Saturday at 3:30pm are:
Alpine Skiing: The giant slalom races took place on Friday, but Saturday’s slaloms have been cancelled, with no makeup date yet determined.
Squash: This weekend’s scheduled Division III Invitational Tournament at Bowdoin has been cancelled.
Swimming & Diving: The Maine Event scheduled for Saturday at Colby has been cancelled.
Track & Field: The Valentine Invitational at Boston University was cancelled, and the Tufts Cupid Challenge (originally scheduled for Saturday and then postponed to Sunday) has been cancelled as well.
All other events are currently slated as originally planned, including Bates’ home basketball games against Hamilton on Saturday (men’s game 5pm; women’s game 7pm) and Nordic skiing at the Dartmouth Carnival, being held in Craftsbury, Vt.
