Video: Bates women rowers reflect on a decade of excellence

Rowing trophies and recognition “are cool,” says Molly Pritz ’17 of Ithaca, N.Y., but Bates rowing is bigger than bling.

Rowing is “wrapped up in those people who have come before,” says Pritz, who will serve as a team captain in 2016-17.

It’s about “people I’ve shared those memories with that have graduated, and the people who came before them who I didn’t know and who laid the path for that to happen.”

At the 2016 NCAA Rowing Championships last month in Gold River, Calif., Pritz, her teammates, and their coach, Peter Steenstra, talked about the Bates rowing program’s undeniable decade of excellence.
