ABC News 4 in Charleston, S.C., describes the start of Doug Coupe ’92, Brad Jayne and Rob Gorman’s journey to create the film "Warrior Road. "

"Warrior Road" co-producer Doug Coupe '92, at left, and writer Brad Jayne.

ABC News 4 of Charleston, S.C., describes the start of Doug Coupe ’92, Brad Jayne and Rob Gorman’s journey to create the film Warrior Road.

Now in pre-production, Warrior Road has lingered long in the head of writer and director Brad Jayne. All three experienced with the Low Country and with filmmaking, Coupe, Gorman and Jayne founded Creative Forge Productions in 2008. With backing from Denis Gallagher and his production and investment company Charliewood Pictures, the stage is set to begin production.

The plan includes a multimedia experience that will chronicle the entire development of the film. Through Facebook and Twitter, followers can not only keep up with news of the film, but even weigh in on casting decisions. The goal is to highlight local talent in front of the inspiring backdrop of the South Carolina coast.

Warrior Road, described as a hybrid of Easy Rider and Stand by Me, is a coming-of-age story in which the lead character, Joseph, is able to shake his painful past and make the transformation from a timid boy into a spiritual “warrior,” and eventually a man.

Coupe tells Egan that “we have high expectations and lofty goals, and hope to have it screened at some of the top-tier film festivals.”
