Maine foundation awards college $255,000 grant for writing program

As Bates College prepares to begin its first academic year with a new set of core educational requirements, a foundation in Falmouth has awarded the college more than $250,000 to support the requirements’ focus on writing skills.

Student achievement is celebrated in fifth Mount David Summit

Through poster presentations, panel discussions and readings, a photography exhibit, film projects and much more, some 200 Bates College students will publicly share their academic and creative efforts at the fifth annual Mount David Summit, starting at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, in Pettengill Hall, Andrews Road.

Author Baxter to Read From His Works

Award-winning author Charles Baxter will read selections from his short stories and poetry (Thursday) March 7 at 8 p.m. in Chase Hall Lounge at Bates College. The public is invited to attend at no charge.
