Beth Billington is the only senior on the 2008 Bates volleyball team, and the middle blocker from St. Paul, Minn., came up big for the Bobcats in a 4-1 week that pulled the team’s record to an even .500 at 9-9.

Photo exhibit in Commons celebrates the female athlete

For the month of October, the second floor of the New Dining Commons at Bates College will house a traveling exhibit of 15 photographs that celebrate the female athlete.

Bates College first-year golfer Lee Smith became the first Bobcat golfer to earn NESCAC Golf Rookie of the Year honors, and he was named to the All-Conference First Team for his performance at last weekend’s NESCAC Men’s Golf Qualifier.

Olympic Gold for Batesie!

Just wanted to give you a little update about the Bates Olympian. Bates graduate Andrew Byrnes (’05) won a gold medal yesterday in the men’s eight rowing event. Byrnes and his 7 teammates beat out Great Britain (Silver medal) and the U.S. (Bronze) to capture the gold medal for Team Canada.
