Senior exhibition, collection at museum of art

The Annual Senior Exhibition, a popular show of work by graduating art majors, is complemented by highlights from the permanent collection at the Bates College Museum of Art this month and next. The senior exhibition runs through May 26 and Collection Highlights through Aug. 23. Both are open to the public at no charge.

Marc Yves Regis photography exhibit opens

Victoria Wyeth to discuss Andrew Wyeth Exhibit

Victoria Wyeth, granddaughter of famed painter Andrew Wyeth and guest curator of the “Andrew Wyeth: Her Room” exhibit at Bates College, will discuss his work and the exhibit at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, and Sunday, Dec. 10, in the Bates College Museum of Art, Olin Arts Center.

Andrew Wyeth's granddaughter organizes major exhibit of his work

Bates College senior Victoria Wyeth has organized “Andrew Wyeth: Her Room,” the first curated exhibition by his only grandchild, as the capstone of the Bates College Museum of Art’s 2000-01 season. The exhibition, with guided tours offered by Victoria Wyeth on weekends, runs from Nov. 10, 2000, through March 30, 2001. The public is invited to attend the opening reception at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in the museum’s upper gallery free of charge.

"Eloquent Objects: the Sense and Sensibilities of Still-Life Painting" to open at Bates College Museum of Art

“Eloquent Objects: the Sense and Sensibilities of Still-Life Painting” will open the summer season at the Bates College Museum of Art at 7 p.m. Friday, June 9. The exhibition features 50 contemporary still-life paintings by 13 artists living or working in Maine. The public is invited to view the exhibition through Aug. 25, 2000, free of charge.

Bates senior to stage "Driven"

Bates senior theater major Kathleen Wyatt of Braintree, Mass., will stage her performance art piece “Driven” amidst a collection of Holocaust-related photographic ensembles at 4:15 p.m. Friday, March 10, in the Bates College Museum of Art. The public is invited to attend without charge.

"In Black and White: Landscape Prints by Claire Van Vliet" Opens

Curator Ruth Fine from the National Gallery of Art will present a lecture for an exhibition of work by nationally renowned printmaker Claire Van Vliet at the Bates College Museum of Art Friday, Jan. 22. Fine’s lecture, “Ordered Expressionism: Claire Van Vliet’s Landscape,” will be given at 7 p.m. in Room 104 of the college’s Olin Arts Center, 75 Russell St. A reception follows the lecture, which is open to the public without charge. The exhibition, “In Black and White: Landscape Prints by Claire Van Vliet,” features more than 30 lithographs, etchings and engravings, depicting landscapes from around the world.

"Thinking, Seeing and Painting" to be discussed at Bates

Sultzes to exhibit collages, stoneware at Museum of Art

Two Dennysville artists will exhibit their work at the Bates College Museum of Art in an upper-gallery exhibit, “Phil Sultz: Painted Collage; Jan Sultz: Stoneware Forms,” June 5-Aug. 15. An opening reception will be held June 5 at 7 p.m. in the museum located in the Olin Arts Center. The public is invited to attend free of charge.
