Orchestra to perform

In a program of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Schubert’s Third Symphony and a selection from Aaron Copland’s “Eight Songs of Emily Dickinson,” the Bates College Orchestra, under the direction of William Matthews, will perform Saturday, Nov. 7, at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. Sweet Honey In The Rock to perform at Bates

The Grammy Award-winning female a capella group Sweet Honey In The Rock will coordinate the release of their latest CD, “25,” with a concert appearance at Bates College Saturday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. in the Clifton Daggett Gray Athletic Building. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at Bull Moose Music outlets in Lewiston, Portland and Brunswick.

"Ed Colker: Five Decades in Print" opens at Bates Nov. 6

“Ed Colker: Five Decades in Print” will open at the Bates College Museum of Art Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. with a lecture by and reception for the artist. The exhibition, on view through Friday, Dec. 18, highlights Colker’s career-long collaboration with poets with nearly 50 lithographs and etchings.

Robinson Players to stage Neil Simon's "Chapter Two"

The Robinson Players, a Bates College theater group, will stage four performances of Pulitzer Prize-winner Neil Simon’s comic drama “Chapter Two” Thursday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. Directed by Jonathan Adler, a Bates junior from Newton, Mass., all performances of “Chapter Two” will be in Gannett Theater. The public is invited to attend, and general admission is $5.
