Bates Concert Band to perform

The Bates College Concert Band, directed by Mark Manduca, applied music instructor, will perform at Bates College Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The program includes R.B. Hall’s “The New Colonial March,” Eric Ewazen’s “Celtic Hymns and Dances,” Giacomo Puccini’s “Musetta’s Waltz” and W. Francis McBeth’s “Caccia.” The public is invited to attend and admission is free.

Jazz and gospel groups combine to perform celebration of the Civil Rights movement

Contemporary jazz meets traditional gospel when The Christian McBride Jazz Quartet and the Maine Gospel Choir perform “The Movement, Revisited,” a musical celebration of the Civil Rights struggles of the 1960s, Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Bates College Chapel. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Orchestra to perform

The Grammy Award-winning female a capella group Sweet Honey In The Rock will coordinate the release of their latest CD, “25,” with a concert appearance at Bates College Saturday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. in the Clifton Daggett Gray Athletic Building. "Ed Colker: Five Decades in Print" opens at Bates Nov. 6

“Ed Colker: Five Decades in Print” will open at the Bates College Museum of Art Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. with a lecture by and reception for the artist. The exhibition, on view through Friday, Dec. 18, highlights Colker’s career-long collaboration with poets with nearly 50 lithographs and etchings.
