The Maine Music Society’s Maine Chamber Ensemble will perform a concert of Haydn, Vivaldi and Carter at Bates College (Saturday) Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. Tickets purchased in advance are $15 for adults and $14 for senior citizens. Admission at the door is $17.50 for both adults and seniors. Students may purchase tickets at half price, and admission for children 12 and under, accompanied by an adult, is free. Rap artist Wyclef Jean, whose recordings with the Fugees include the multi-platinum CD “The Score,” will perform with the Refugee All Stars at Bates College at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in the Clifton Daggett Gray Athletic Building. Tickets are $22 and may be purchased through Bull Moose Music stores starting Thursday, Sept. 9. Tickets are also available at Bates College in Chase Hall Thursday, Sept. 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays until the concert. Call 207-795-7496 for more information.

Pianist Frank Glazer, artist in residence and lecturer in music since 1980, will perform a concert of works by Handel, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin and Brahms at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall.

The Bates College Noonday Concert series opens its fall 1999 season with a selection of programs in September. The free concerts, open to the public, will be held Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the college’s Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, located on Russell Street in Lewiston.

Contradance band Catharsis will perform at Bates College (Friday) Sept. 10 at 8:30 p.m. in Chase Hall Lounge. Sponsored by the Bates Freewill Folk Society, the contradance will be called by John McIntyre. Soft- soled shoes are recommended, but not required. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

The Bates Dance Festival presents two of America’s most eloquent contemporary dance artists who will share the stage for an evening of imaginative and emotionally rich choreography and film Aug. 12 at 8 p.m in Schaeffer Theatre on the Bates College campus. Tickets are $14/$8 (students and seniors) and may be purchased by calling 207-786-6161. A post-performance talk with the artists will take place immediately following the concert.

The St. Cecilia Trio, composed of pianist Duncan Cumming, Bates class of 1993; cellist Sölen Dikener; and violinist Hilary Walther, will perform three concerts at Bates College July 13, July 15 and July 17 at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The Bates College Modern Dance Company, founded and directed by Marcy Plavin, lecturer in dance, will present Fusable Interfacing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday March 27, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, in Schaeffer Theatre, 305 College St.

Twelve Bates College seniors will show their work in the annual Senior Exhibition, on view April 9 through May 30 at the Bates College Museum of Art. The exhibition opens with a reception at 7 p.m. Friday, April 9. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free for the reception and exhibition.
