Musicians, poets, artists to perform '¬°EMBARGO!'

Singing with the Enemy, a troupe of musicians, poets and performance artists dedicated to raising awareness about the effects of the U.S. embargo of Cuba, will perform Richard Cambridge’s ¬°EMBARGO! at Bates College March 14 at 7 p.m. in Chase Lounge of Chase Hall.

Senior to perform classical thesis consert

Pianist Timothy Bakland, a senior music major from Newburyport, Mass., will perform a thesis concert of works by Rameau, Couperin, Debussy, Saint-Saens, Satie and Ravel March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.

Theater at Bates stages three performances of Beth Henley’s Abundance March 13, March 14 and March 15 at 8 p.m. in Schaeffer Theatre. Orchestra to perform classical concert

The Bates College Orchestra, directed by William Matthews, Alice Swanson Esty Professor of Music, will perform March 14 at 8 p.m. and March 15 at 2 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The public is invited and admission is free.

The performance by Cinque Dance Company at Bates, scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. in Schaeffer Theater, has been postponed. The rescheduled performance will be announced.

Chamber ensemble to perform classical music

The Maine Music Society Chamber Ensemble will perform a program of Bach, Bocharini and Brahms March 6 at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. Tickets purchased in advance are $12 for adults, $11.50 for seniors, $6.25 for students, and free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult. Tickets purchased at the door are $15 for adults and seniors, $7.50 for students, and free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased at Shop & Save and Shaws supermarkets in Lewiston and Auburn or by calling the Maine Music Society at 207-786-1403.

Noonday concerts to resume at Bates

The Bates College Noonday Concert series continues its winter season with a selection of programs throughout March. The free concerts, open to the public, will be held Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the college’s Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, located on Russell Street in Lewiston.

"Anna" continues foreign film series at Bates

“Anna,” a documentary juxtaposing the collapse of the Soviet Union with the growth of director Nikita Mikhalkov’s daughter over the course of 13 years, will be shown March 7 at 7 p.m., and March 8 at 2 p.m. in Room 105 of the Olin Arts Center at Bates College.
