The Black Family Trio, a piano, violin and cello ensemble, will perform at noon on Oct. 21, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The concert, part of the Noontime Concert Series at Bates, will feature works by Handel, Dvorak and Squire as well as traditional fiddling music. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Robert VerEecke, artistic director and choreographer of Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble and pastor of St. Ignatius Church in Newton, Mass., will discuss “A Dancer and Choreographer’s Perspective” as part of a new Bates College lecture series, “Spiritual Journeys: Stories of the Soul,” at 4:30 p.m., Oct. 30, in the Benjamin Mays Center. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

The Bates College Noonday Concert series continues its fall season with a selection of programs throughout the month of November. The free concerts, open to the public, will be held Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the college’s Olin Arts Concert Hall, 75 Russell St.

The Mid-Coast Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Paul Ross, will open its eighth season with a concert at 7:30 p.m. November 1, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The program features pianist Virginia Eskin in concertos by Clara Schumann and Franz Liszt. The Bang On A Can All-Stars, an amplified ensemble that blends jazz, classical, new music and rock, will perform at 8 p.m, October 25, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The concert will feature compositions from the group’s two Sony Classical releases, “Industry” and “Cheating, Lying, Stealing,” as well as works by Steve Reich and Tom Johnson.
