A “garage sale” on a massive scale that benefits the environment, community organizations and countless satisfied shoppers, Bates College’s Clean Sweep returns for the 11th year at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Underhill Arena, 145 Russell St.

Museum of Art offers inside look at Wyeths, installment of Maine Drawing Project

Long recognized for the strength of its drawing collection, the Museum of Art reveals multiple dimensions of that medium in major exhibitions this summer. Part of a statewide initiative exploring the art of drawing, the exhibition Emerging Dis/Order: Drawings by Amy Stacey Curtis, Alison Hildreth and Andrea Sulzer features new work by respected Maine artists. Meanwhile, art and illustrated letters from one of America’s most famous artist families constitute Andrew and Jamie Wyeth: Selections from the Private Collection of Victoria Browning Wyeth.

Paul Farnsworth, unlike Cole Porter, wants to be fenced in. Or at least he wants for the renovation of Roger Williams and Hedge halls to stay within its fenced-in work zone. But his goal, paradoxically, is the same as Cole’s: unrestricted mobility. Now, thanks to the end of construction work outside the zone, wandering over yonder is almost as easy as it ever was.

Dance festival's 'Different Voices' hail from Africa, Mexico, U.S.

In the final week of the Bates Dance Festival, the annual “Different Voices” concert showcases the internationalism of contemporary dance, with choreographers from the United States, Africa and Mexico bringing compelling styles and perspectives to the stage at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 5 and 6, in Bates College‚Äôs Schaeffer Theatre, 305 College St.
