Museum's language-arts initiative launches educational website, video

For more than a decade, the Thousand Words Project has been the flagship educational outreach program of the Bates College Museum of Art. Now the museum has launched an educational website for the program, complete with instructional video.

Bates releases year's second CD by pianist Glazer

For the second time this year, Bates College has released a CD of music by pianist Frank Glazer, an internationally known musician who has been an artist in residence at Bates since 1980. Titled “Schubert-Brahms-Beethoven” and comprising one piece of music by each composer, the disk presents, for the first time, recordings that Glazer made in 1998.

Bates offers veterans, active military personnel free tickets to Elizabeth Cook concert

With country singer Elizabeth Cook performing at Bates College on Veterans Day, the college’s Olin Arts Center Concert Hall is offering military veterans and currently enrolled military personnel two free tickets to the concert. Museum of Art exhibitions explore Roman mythology, women in Islamic societies

The exhibits “Les Femmes du Maroc: An Exhibition by Lalla Essaydi,” featuring photographs based on 19th-century Orientalist paintings, and “Metamorphoses: A Collaboration with Ovid by Wally Reinhardt,” a collection of gouache paintings interpreting writings of the Roman poet, open Oct. 8 at the Bates College Museum of Art.
