Cumming and Glazer perform third Brahms concert

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of composer Johnanes Brahms, pianists Frank Glazer and Duncan Cumming ’93, will perform the third in a series of four Bates College concerts featuring the composer’s complete works for solo piano at 3 p.m., Nov. 9, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The public is invited to attend the performance free of charge.

Doug Varone and Dancers to perform at Bates

New York dance phenomenon Doug Varone and Dancers will perform “Let’s Dance: The Cabaret” at 8 p.m., Nov. 6, in the Clifton Dagget Gray Athletic Building, 130 Central Ave. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for senior citizens and students and may be purchased by calling the box office at 207-786-6161.

Black Family Trio to perform at Bates

The Black Family Trio, a piano, violin and cello ensemble, will perform at noon on Oct. 21, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The concert, part of the Noontime Concert Series at Bates, will feature works by Handel, Dvorak and Squire as well as traditional fiddling music. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

The Bates College Noonday Concert series continues its fall season with a selection of programs throughout the month of November. The free concerts, open to the public, will be held Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the college’s Olin Arts Concert Hall, 75 Russell St.

Cumming and friends to perform at Bates

Pianist Duncan Cumming ’93 will join tenor John Corrie, violinist Hilary Walther and Robin Cavalear on the French horn in the fourth annual Florence Pennell Gremley Concert at Bates College at 3 p.m., Oct. 26, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The artists will play works by Schubert, Brahms and Kevin Bleau. A reception in the lobby will immediately follow the concert, and the public is invited to attend free of charge.

Mid-Coast Chamber Orchestra to perform at Bates

The Mid-Coast Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Paul Ross, will open its eighth season with a concert at 7:30 p.m. November 1, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The program features pianist Virginia Eskin in concertos by Clara Schumann and Franz Liszt. Bang On a Can All-Stars to perform at Bates

The Bang On A Can All-Stars, an amplified ensemble that blends jazz, classical, new music and rock, will perform at 8 p.m, October 25, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The concert will feature compositions from the group’s two Sony Classical releases, “Industry” and “Cheating, Lying, Stealing,” as well as works by Steve Reich and Tom Johnson.
