Theater at Bates stages six performances of "The Ugly Ducklings"

Theater at Bates will stage the world premiere of Carolyn Gage’s “The Ugly Ducklings” at 6 p.m. on September 26 in Gannett Theater. Lauren Todd, a Bates junior from Cherry Valley, Mass., is directing the drama about the destructive effects of homophobia on girls and young women. The play also will be performed at 6 p.m. on Sept. 27, 2 p.m. on Sept. 28, 8 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 4, and 2 p.m. on Oct. 5. Tickets are $2 for general admission and may be purchased at the box office. Pianists to note 100th anniversary of Brahms' death

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of composer Johnanes Brahms, pianists Frank Glazer and Duncan Cumming ’93 will perform the composer’s complete works for solo piano in a series of concerts at Bates College Sept. 14 at 3 p.m.; Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.; Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. and Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The public is invited to attend the performances free of charge.

Goose Cove Orchestra opens Bates Contradance Series
