January's final Noonday Concert to feature selections from the Beatles

Featuring music by the Beatles, the final Bates Noonday Concert for the month of January will be performed at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 30, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Pianist joins violinist in concert

Violinist Lawrence Golan, concertmaster of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, will be joined by noted pianist Eva Virsik in a concert at Bates College on Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Bates' 77th annual college winter carnival

The Roaring Twenties” has been selected as the theme for the 77th annual Bates College Winter Carnival, which begins Thursday (1/18) with a ceremonial torch-lighting at the Statehouse in Augusta and a relay to the campus by student runners.

Classical and medieval studies lecture series

The Classical and Medieval studies program at Bates College will present its fifth annual lecture series, “Speaking Pictures, Seeing Stories: Visual and Textual Representation in the Classical and Medieval World,” on Feb. 15, March 7 and March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. Noted writer spends residency at Bates as Woodrow Wilson Fellow

The noted writer Carolyn Forché, a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow at Bates, will lecture on Art and Witness at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22, in the Benjamin Mays Center and read from her works at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25, in the Olin Arts Center in Room 104. The public is invited to attend both events free of charge.
