Pianist Chick Corea, considered one of the preeminent forces in modern jazz, will perform with his quartet Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. in the Bates College Chapel.

Distinguished scientist Jack E. Dixon will discuss “Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases: Their Roles in Signal Transduction” at Bates College on March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in room 204 of the Carnegie Science Center. The public is invited to attend free of charge.
Dixon’s talk, the second in a series to celebrate the establishment of a new Bates major in biological chemistry, will include a discussion of the biochemistry of cell cycling and the role of biological chemistry research in society.

The last year in the life of William Shakespeare is the subject of a dramatic play to be staged at Bates College on March 7, 8 and 9 at 8 p.m., and on March 10 at 2 p.m. in the Schaeffer Theatre. Tickets are $6.

Two distinguished political scientists will explore issues concerned with transnationalism in a pair of lectures delivered at Batesat 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 and Feb. 15 in the Muskie Archives. The lectures, part of a series, Transnationalism and the United Nations After 50 Years, are open to the public free of charge.
