The Auburn School Department, in collaboration with four students at Bates College, is opening an environmental summer day camp for students in grades 2-8 at the 13-acre Auburn Land Lab located in the C.P. Wight School at the northern end of Lake Auburn. Transportation is available.

Dame Rose Catalan, a senior political science major from Cheshire, Conn., has been named Bates’ Student Employee of the Year by the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators.

An exhibition of works by nine graduating studio art majors will open with a reception in the upper gallery of the Museum of Art Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Senior Amy Chandler, a music major from New Sharon, will perform a thesis concert of violin and fiddle music April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The public is invited and admission is free.

The Bates Modern Dance Company, under the artistic guest direction of Lionel Popkin, presents its annual spring concert in a series of three performances March 27 and 28 at 8 p.m. and March 29 at 2 p.m. in Schaeffer Theatre. Tickets are $6 for general admission and $3 for seniors.

The College Choir, under the direction of John Corrie, will perform Handel’s Messiah Parts II and III March 28 at 8 p.m. and March 29 at 2 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall.
