The Bates Concert Band will perform a St. Patrick’s Day concert at the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall March 17 at 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Theater at Bates will stage four performances of Anton Chekov’s tragicomedy “The Seagull” March 5, March 6 and March 7 at 8 p.m. and March 8 at 2 p.m. in Schaeffer Theatre. Matthew Ensner, a Bates College sophomore from Asheville, N.C., has been named a Philip J. Otis Fellow and will receive a $5,000 grant for research and travel to promote greater understanding of environmental issues and the connection between the environment and spirituality.

The Roaring Twenties” has been selected as the theme for the 77th annual Bates College Winter Carnival, which begins Thursday (1/18) with a ceremonial torch-lighting at the Statehouse in Augusta and a relay to the campus by student runners.
