Bates receives $1.2M Kresge Foundation grant

A $1.2 million Kresge Foundation challenge grant to Bates College will support the ongoing construction of the college’s new academic building, scheduled for completion in the summer of 1999.

New maintenance center to be dedicated

The new physical plant building at Bates College will be dedicated Wednesday at noon in a ceremony off of Russell Street behind Merrill Gymnasium.

Bates students return to busy campus

The class of 2001 will be welcomed to Bates on Aug. 26 by the sounds of jackhammers as construction crews continue a number of renovation and building projects on campus. Classes begin Sept. 3. As construction workers proceed with building the college’s state-of-the art academic building overlooking Lake Andrews, a student body of 1,650 students will encounter a new coffeehouse on Frye Street and a refurbished Den in Chase Hall.

Ground breaking for $17M Bates building set

Bates College will break ground for a new $17 million academic building on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the corner of Bardwell Street and Andrews Road.
