Clean Sweep sets record, raising more than $21,000 for local nonprofits

Bates’ ninth annual Clean Sweep, a “garage sale” of usable goods donated by departing students that was held June 20, raised a record $21,400 in proceeds that will be divided among local nonprofit organizations.

Physics professor's jazz trio opens Midsummer Lakeside Concerts

The Lewiston-Auburn jazz band Three Point Trio opens the 2009 Bates College Midsummer Lakeside Concert Series on July 9. The series also presents singer-songwriter Carolyn Currie, the folk trio Ti’ Acadie, the One World Music Ensemble and Réveillons!, known for its modern take on Québécois music.

Men's crew traveling to UK for Henley Royal Regatta

For the past three years, the Bates College men’s rowing team has stood by as the women’s team has qualified for, and excelled in, the NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships. Since the NCAA doesn’t sponsor championships in men’s rowing, it would be understandable if there might have been mixed emotions about seeing their teammates get to extend their season in something resembling the limelight.
