Bates Commencement 2012: Information for journalists

Bates College’s 2012 Commencement takes place Sunday, May 27.

Start time and duration: 10 a.m. (beginning of procession). Event usually concludes by noon.
Location: Bates’ Historic Quad, College Street and Campus Avenue, Lewiston, Maine. This is an outdoor event, rain or shine. There is no rain site. Commencement will be postponed only in the event of conditions such as lightning or high winds. Journalists should plan accordingly.
Honorands: actor Robert De Niro, journalist Gwen Ifill and molecular biologist Bonnie Bassler. Note: Each one speaks and receives an honorary degree.
Bates-issued media credential is required for on-site coverage. Please reserve credential(s) by 5 p.m. Friday, May 25, by calling or emailing Roland Adams (contact information above). Credentials will be available at the media seating area on the Quad beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday.
