Greetings from the Math department. If you are taking your first math course with us, we have some suggestions.
For those planning to take calculus, try our online self-placement exam to determine whether you should start in Calculus I, II or later.
Looking for a course to satisfy the Bates quantitative [Q] requirement? You might try MATH 101, Working With Data, or MATH 102, Mathematics Across the Sciences; there are also many [Q] courses in other departments.
If you have additional placement questions, our Assistant in Instruction Eric Towne specializes in helping students select the appropriate course levels. For questions about any courses or the math major or minor, please contact department chair Meredith Greer.
Finally, please note that the Math and Statistics Workshop is moving to a new location, on the ground floor of Ladd Library.
