Among the 14 baccalaureate institutions found “most competitive” by “Barron’s Profiles,” the study noted that scholarly productivity at these schools was greater than medium productivity at master-level and doctoral-level institutions.

“These findings suggest that these 14 colleges offer something quite different from other similar colleges,” the authors concluded, noting that the productivity figures of the 14 colleges “reinforce the belief that good teaching and active scholarship support one another.”
