The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Joffee, professor of sociology at the University of California, Davis, will ask if recent advances in reproductive technologies like pregnancy prevention and the accessibility of RU-486, are reshaping the abortion struggle.

Joffee’s recent work includes “Abortion and the Women’s Health Movement: Then and Now” in the Journal of the American Medical Women’s Association (Winter 1999), “Doctors of Conscience: The Struggle to Provide Abortion Before and After Roe v. Wade” and “The Regulation of Sexuality: Experiences of Family Planning Workers.”
