Whatever their occupations, Bates alumni know their experiences since graduation constitute a knowledge resource that can benefit fellow alumni as well as today's students. And they're not stingy with that resource.
Porters' Progress founder visits Bates College to describe work in Nepal

Ben Ayers, a 1999 Bates College graduate and founder of an organization that supports expeditionary porters in Nepal, brings a presentation about Porters' Progress to Bates at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 in the Benjamin Mays center, 95 Russell St. Ayers' presentation is open to the public at no charge.
Congressman Baldacci to honor Sen. Edmund Muskie

In an appearance sponsored by the Bates Democrats, U.S. Rep. John Baldacci pays tribute to the late Edmund S. Muskie, who served as Maine governor, U.S. senator and secretary of state, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Edmund S. Muskie Archives, 70 Campus Avenue. Baldacci's talk is open to the public at no charge.
U.S. Representative to discuss national judiciary committee

Alumnus U.S. Rep. Robert Goodlatte, 6th Congressional District, R-Va., will speak on Issues Facing the U.S. Congress in 1998: A Judiciary Committee Perspective March 15 at 8 p.m. in Chase Lounge. Following Goodlatte's discussion of issues facing Congress, including religious freedom, computer security, potential impeachment inquiries and civil rights, there will be a question-and-answer period. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.
