Sklar will discuss her latest book, Chaos or Community? Seeking Solutions, not Scapegoats for Bad Economics (South End Press, 1995). She “presents a disturbing vision of the modern, corporation-dominated America, where the rich get richer, the poor are mired in poverty and the society no longer cares for its children. At a time of governmental cutbacks, Sklar is a dissenting voice,” said Washington Post Book World.

Sklar is the co-author of the highly acclaimed Streets of Hope: The Fall and Rise of an Urban Neighborhood (South End Press, 1994), the story of the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative and its groundbreaking approach to community revitalization.

Sklar’s other books include the award-winning Washington’s War on Nicaragua (South End Press, 1988) and the best-selling Trilateralism: The Trilateral Commission for Elite Planning and World Management (South End Press, 1980).

Sklar’s commentaries have appeared in numerous magazines, anthologies and newspapers such as The Nation, Z Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and USA Today.

A founding board member of the Progressive Media Project, Sklar is also an associate of Political Research Associates, an executive committee member of United for a Fair Economy, and a board member of both the American Friend Service Committee Nationwide Women’s Program and the National Writers Union.
