Former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich to speak at Bates Commencement

Robert B. Reich, U.S. Secretary of Labor during President Bill Clinton’s first term, will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree and speak at the 135th commencement at Bates College Monday, June 4, in an outdoor ceremony on the quad in front of Coram Library.

James L. Moody Jr. gives gift for endowed professorship

Bates College has received a $1.5-million gift from 1953 Bates graduate James L. Moody Jr., chair of the Board of Fellows at Bates and retired CEO and chairman of Hannaford Bros. Co., announced Donald W. Harward, president of Bates College.
