				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Noonday Concert Series, featuring weekly performances by Bates faculty and students, resumes on Sept. 15 when harpsichordist <a href="http://www.bates.edu/x29446.xml">John Corrie</a> performs Preludes and Fugues 1-5 from Bach&#8217;s <em>Well-Tempered Clavier, </em>Book I.</p>
<p><span id="more-21881"></span>The free concerts, open to the public, will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays at the  Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. More information on the Bates Noonday Concert Series is available from Olin Arts at 207-786-6135.</p>
<p>Two other Noonday Concerts are scheduled for September.  Greg Boardman &amp; Friends will perform a program of classic American fiddle music on Sept. 22. The artist for the concert on Sept. 29 is to be announced.</p>

<p>Pianist Mark Howard will perform Baroque keyboard pieces by composer Elizabeth de la Guerre on Jan. 6. Anthony Shostak, banjo, will perform a folk program on Jan. 13. Guitarist John Smedley and pianist Mark Croteau, will perform a jazz program on Jan. 20. Soprano Elaine Chow, Bates class of 2000, and pianist John Corrie, will perform on Jan. 27.</p>

<p>On May 7, clarinetist Carol Furman and Bates pianist Mark Howard will perform the Sonata in F minor by Brahms and short pieces by Max Reger. On May 14, guitarist Bill Shimamura and his group, Murphy&#8217;s Lawbreakers, will perform traditional Irish folk music. On May 16, Mark Manduca and the Bates College Jazz Band will play. On May 21, oboist Michelle Vigneau and baroque flutist Anthony Allen will perform music by Handel and Couperin.<span id="more-21677"></span></p>
