“The review committee was impressed by both the breadth and depth of Dr. Wortham’s experience. He has done an excellent job of integrating service-learning into his classes, and has been a serious advocate for service-learning nationally and on his own campus,” said Liz McCabe Park, director of the Maine Campus Compact.

Wortham, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College and a doctoral degree from The University of Chicago, is the author of Acting Out Participant Examples in the Classroom, (Philadelphia: John Benjamins, 1994). Before joining the Bates faculty in 1993, he was a lecturer at The University of Chicago.
