Robert G. Wade Jr., retired director of Chancellor LGT Asset Management and a 1950 graduate of Bates, has been named trustee emeritus after having served on the board of fellows since 1984.

Bushmiller, who became partner with Sidley & Austin in 1990, specializes in litigation, working primarily on antitrust, telecommunications and environmental issues. Her volunteer commitments have included acting as mediator for the District of Columbia court system. She is a member of the District of Columbia Women’s Bar Association.

Bushmiller graduated cum laude with a degree in political science from Bates in 1979. A Dana Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, she was the recipient of the Henry W. and Raymond S. Oakes Fellowship, given annually to the best-qualified senior at Bates intending to study law. She also is a member of the College Key, an alumni organization whose members are selected on the basis of academic standing, character, campus and community service and leadership. Bushmiller earned her J.D. degree from the University of Chicago in 1982 and was admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia the same year.

In Bates affairs, Bushmiller has served on the college’s Board of Overseers from 1992 to 1997. She has been an active volunteer for Alumni-in Admissions, interviewing prospective students and hosting admitted-student receptions.

Fuller has a private practice in interventional cardiology in Reno, Nev., and has been elected a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians and the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions. He is an assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he received the Outstanding Teaching Award.

Fuller, a 1969 graduate of Bates, was a Dana Scholar, chemistry major and varsity track and soccer athlete. He received his medical degree from Tufts, and his postdoctoral training included a medical internship and residency at the University of California, Davis, and a cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.

A mountaineer and environmentalist, Fuller was elected president of the Bates Outing Club and is a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, American Alpine Club and Sierra Club, for which he serves on local conservation committees.

In Bates affairs, Fuller is the Alumni-in-Admissions coordinator for northern Nevada. He has funded a Bates scholarship in honor of his father and served on his 25th reunion gift committee. He was a preceptor in the Bates Career Discovery Internship Program and is a member of the College Key.

After graduating from Bates in 1964, Linda Gramatky Smith was an editor at Doubleday and Guidepost magazine. While raising her two children, she did extensive volunteer work in schools and inner-city programs and later worked as a freelance editor. In 1989, she and her husband, Kendall, a 1955 graduate of Bates, formed Gramatky Galleries, a business dealing with the watercolors and children’s books of her father, author of the classic Little Toot.

After writing several children’s books, including Little Toot and the Loch Ness Monster, Smith was a speaker at schools around the nation on bringing out the creativity of children. For the past three years, she has been executive assistant to the chief financial officer at Fortune Brands Inc., a large consumer products company.

In Bates affairs, Smith is a member of the College Key and has been active since the 1970s in Alumni-in-Admissions in New Jersey and Connecticut. She serves as the secretary- treasurer of her class and chaired the social committee for her 25th reunion.

Stangle is chairman of Analysis Group Inc., a research and analysis firm for a variety of business, litigation and regulatory matters. The company also applies management technologies to improve project development, manufacturing, service delivery and strategic planning. In addition, it originates and distributes investment products and provides advisory and performance evaluation services to institutional investors.

Before founding Analysis Group in 1981, Stangle was a senior economist for Arthur D. Little Inc. In 1994 Massachusetts Governor William Weld appointed Stangle to the board of directors of the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation, a venture-capital financing firm for technology-based companies.

In Bates affairs, Stangle and his wife, Emily, Bates class of 1972, chaired the Boston region for the 1992-96 Bates Campaign. He has participated in the Bates Career Discovery Internship program, the career-counselor program and was a member of the gift committee in 1991 for his 20th reunion. Stangle, who graduated from Bates in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in English, is a member of the College Key. He received a master’s in management and a doctoral degree in applied economics from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

The Bates College board of trustees includes the board of fellows, whose members serve lifetime terms, and the board of overseers, whose members serve five-year terms.
