Digital Printing, Scanning, Data Merges
OS oversees department copiers for light duty copying, scanning and faxing. Centrally, we offer high quality digital black-white and full color on-demand printing and scanning on industry leading technology, a Xerox J75 Color printer with ex8000 Fiery Server. We provide mail and data merges and wide-format printing on an HP z6100 42 inch wide printer. Our equipment is the best technology within a 40 mile radius of the College.
You may email documents and instructions to email@example.com. We prefer a PDF workflow but can work with many other document types and applications.
We process and certify the College’s outgoing first class and non-profit bulk mail. We provide CASS Certification and National Change of Address (NCOA) services. Often, we mail what we print. If you need to produce mail merges, business reply mail, courtesy reply mail, envelopes or other mail pieces, please contact us.
You may purchase stamps, UPS and Fed Ex services at Lane Hall on behalf of your department or personally. Although we are not a Post Office, we provide many of the same services you would expect at a USPS, UPS Store or Kinko’s.
The campus mail route is coordinated through the Package Center. If you would like to receive or distribute mail on campus, please call the Package Center at x6098.
The Package Center and Student Mail Services
The Package Center is coordinated by Supervisor Bobby Bosse and Mail Route and Materials handling is done by Dan Girling. All incoming mail and packages for the College are received and processed at the Package Center.

Environmentally Conscious, Carbon Neutral Digital communications vs. Print, paper and mail.
We purchase Energy Star equipment and work with vendors who offer a sustainable and friendly business models. Even digital communication can have an environmental impact and require a lot of electricity, both to operate and cool data centers and to run computers and other electronics (most of it is not generated in a sustainable fashion). The average email spam generates 0.3 grams of carbon dioxide per message and there are 80 trillion messages sent per year. OS selects and recommends recycled papers and papers containing post-consumer content. We support forestry certification and believe paper is one of the most renewable resources available.
We are good stewards of the environment are working to reduce and minimize our “carbon footprint.” Key actions we’re taking include:
- Promoting the use of recycled paper products and recycling waste paper products
- Offering address management services (address verification, and list merging and management – saving money by reducing undeliverable and duplicate mail)
- Standardizing addresses and combining mailings when possible to maximize postage dollars
- Offering “print-on-demand” and “fulfillment” services, to print only what is needed when it is needed (reducing outdated document waste)
- Centralizing package services and distribution (eliminating redundant services)
Assistance with creating and laying out documents.
OS staff can provide assistance with various applications, Adobe and Microsoft, to assist you in creating and producing documents. We also provide training if you would like to learn to create things yourself. Please contact us for specific needs or to schedule a appointment.
