An adhoc-committee was formed to review internal communications on campus, particularly print and electronic communication to the employee base.
The committee produced a report that recommended improvements in our then current patterns and practices. The full report is available on line at http://www.bates.edu/acad/committees/ or by calling me.
At the heart of the report was the recommendation that electronic format be the primary, and the default, venue for most internal communication.
Communications Matrix for the distribution of information on campus:
- Shaded Area – Preferred methods for category
- Striped Area – Will not be distributed by this method
- White Area – depends on nature of information, may be distributed by one or more of the methods
The matrix prescribes preferred methods of distributing information on campus. This will reduce paper consumption, cut printing costs, and be environmentally responsible.
Office Services will assist people to understand their distribution options.
