The Bates diploma includes the student’s legal name and degree. Students earning Latin honors will receive a revised diploma in June once Short Term grades are received and the final GPA is calculated. The name on the diploma is the full legal name as received upon application and admittance to the college.
Corrections to a student’s name require legal documentation, such as a driver’s license or social security card, showing the legal name. If a legal name change has occurred since matriculation at the college an official copy of the court order must be submitted to the Registrar’s office. The name will be updated in the database and will appear on the diploma and official transcript.

Please include a check for $30.00 (made out to Bates College) to cover the cost of a replacement diploma and return the original diploma in the case of damage or legal name change.
