Who May Apply:
Students who have accepted admission to the Bates Class of 2022 and who plan to major in biological chemistry, biology, chemistry, geology, environmental science, mathematics, neuroscience, physics, or the liberal arts-engineering dual degree program may apply. Students should be planning to take science and math courses in their first year.
Students from groups traditionally under-represented in science and math, students who are among the first in their family to attend college, and students from under-resourced Maine high schools are especially encouraged to apply.

In your application, be specific about your background and interests in science and/or math. Information from your admission file is also considered in the selection process.
The Bates Science Fellows are selected by a faculty committee. The committee seeks Fellows with a demonstrated passion for science and/or math, strong academic credentials, a desire to work hard to succeed in these fields, and who come from diverse backgrounds and bring diverse perspectives.
