Driver Re-Certification

Driver certification remains in effect through each academic year.

Students involved in campus programs throughout the Summer remain certified through to the end of their Summer program. For al others, certifications obtained during an academic year will expire on August 15th. Certifications obtained during Summer session will apply as the following academic year.

In order to be re-certified,  you must obtain an updated copy of your Driver History Record from the state where your license is issued.

The driving record can be obtained by visiting the licensee’s home state Department of Motor Vehicle or by going online with the licensee’s home state Department of Motor Vehicle’s website and requesting the record. There generally is a nominal administrative cost associated with accessing or acquiring the driver history record.

Once you receive a current copy of your driving history record, contact the Transportation Coordinator to show that and have an updated certification sticker issued and affixed on their Bates ID card to replace the old one. Certified drivers will be listed on an up-to-date spreadsheet which is made shareable for ensuring the drivers have met the provisions for certification.
