Security Alert 1-23-12

Bates Security received a report at approximately 2:00 a.m. Sunday in which a student reported being grouped from behind by an unknown male in the vicinity of the Muskie archive pathway adjacent to Central and Campus Avenues.  When the student yelled out and elbowed the unknown male, the assailant released the student and ran towards Campus Avenue.
The assailant was wearing a dark grey or black hooded sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers.  No further description was available.

Bates Security patrolled the area, but was unable to locate the perpetrator.  The Lewiston Police Department has been advised of the situation.  As precautions against this type of incident, please walk in a group of two or more during the nighttime hours.  If you cannot, the Security Safe walkers  and Security Shuttle are available to assist you from getting you from your location on campus to your residence hall.  Safe walk may be accessed by calling 753-6999 and the shuttle by calling Bates security at 786-6254.
