Established Positions

Faculty members should consult with their department chair before submitting any student employment forms.  The positions below are funded by either the department or a grant.

If you know whom you will be hiring for any of the below positions, the only form you need to complete and submit is the Hiring Form.

If you are looking for a student to fill any of these position, you will need to submit a post position request.  Details on how to post a position can be found on the Faculty Hiring Procedure page.

Student Assistant:  Mainly office work, answering the phone, photocopying, run errands,stapling, may include using the computer. Grade A position.

Teaching Assistants:  Position involves more responsibilities. Student works independently and often has to have specialized knowledge.  Helps in the smooth running of classes.  Grade B position.

Lab Assistant:  Students preparing labs for classes, not left unsupervised. This requires some form of specialized knowledge.  Grade B position.

Research Assistant:  Requires specialized knowledge of material. Works independently and carries high levels of responsibility.  Grade C position.

Technical Writing Assistants:  Work as peer writing tutors to provide students in core courses with instruction in scientific writing, and to help students to identify problems in the structure and content of their papers through individual collaborative conferences. Grade C position.
