ADM: Admission Staff Writer (S9627B)

Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Goal: The Staff Writer is responsible for recruiting strong academic and community-minded prospective Bates students who are well informed about the culture, dynamic, tenor, and expectations of Bates College.

Target Audiences: Prospective students, current applicants, prospective international students, guidance counselors, high school teachers, and parents.

Key Message: A candid and insightful look at the Bates experience that goes beyond current admission materials.

Strategies: The Staff Writer presents the Bates College experience to prospective students in a realistic, genuine, and immediate manner using student narratives/reflections. He or she captures what makes Bates College special and what makes it stand apart from other small liberal arts colleges in New England.

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Post two written entries a week to your individual blog, and approx. 2-3 photos per post for the remainder of you academic calendar.
  • Respond via email (after forwarding email to ugonzale@bates.edu) to prospective students who may email you after reading your blog.
  • Link on to another blog on your blogroll as a means to connect readers to Bates College.
