Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Admission Receptionist greets visitors to Bates, and checks them in for Interviews, Information Sessions, or Campus Tours. They also give campus directions, answer questions asked by visitors, answer the telephone, perform data entry tasks, and maintain the visitor lounge.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Greet the public
• Provide general college information to visitors
• Answer the telephone
• Maintain the lounge
• Assist with data entry projects
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Requirements


Any incoming or currently enrolled student is welcome to apply. Solid communication skills and a friendly demeanor are a must. Prior data entry, receptionist, or office assistant skills are a plus.

Reporting


Reports to Susan Russell, Jack Behre, and Carolyn Starks. Regular interaction with other Admission staff is required.

Responsibilities


The student will work in an office environment and will use the telephone, computer, and email often. The student may be asked to lift materials up to twenty pounds.
