Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
Teaching Assistants work with a biology AI or faculty member and provide logistical and technical support of laboratory teaching. TAs work in the lab and help teach new skills and answer questions for students.
Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Help with last minutes lab set up
- Collect homework and often will grade the homework
- Answer questions for students
- Assist with hands-on skills training
- Help replenish expendables between labs or help take down the lab

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities
Requirements
- Must have taken the course, or a comparable course elsewhere
- Proficient with Excel and Prism, Google docs, Microsoft Word
- Proficient with basic statistics and graphing
- Strong lab bench skills and lab safety awareness
- Strong interpersonal skills
Reporting
Works directly with the departmental lab staff and is supervised by the course AIs (Greg Anderson or Carolyn Lawson).
Responsibilities
Lab only. You should be proficient using basic lab equipment including centrifuges, microfuges, Spec 20, pipettes of all sorts, hot plates, balances, water baths, microwave oven, incubators, hoods, etc
