Summary of Position

QUBES (Quantitative Undergraduate Education and Synthesis) is a virtual center that supports faculty teaching at the interface of mathematics and biology. We coordinate activities among over 75 active curriculum, professional society, and institutions to get quality classroom materials and pedagogical materials into undergraduate classrooms. An important part of this effort is inclusive community building among faculty in quantitative biology, supported by an online infrastructure called QUBES Hub (qubeshub.org). This position is for up to 2 students 8-10 hours per week in the academic year to research and co-design a site-wide metrics system to incentivize online site participation. This grant-funded position is renewable subject to continued funding.

Skills/preferred required: - Interest in creating and nurturing equitable digital spaces - Experience with search for and synthesizing literature - Interest in STEM education - Ability to manage time and carry-out work both individually and as a multi-disciplinary team - Willingness to learn new technological tools - Experience using online community forums/platforms Skills/experience preferred: - Experience with open badges - Experience with STEM or STEM Ed related online community forums


Works closely with other Bates staff hired by QUBES as well as QUBES personnel at the College of William and Mary.
