Entering Student Orientation Co-DIrector (S9608C)
Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
The student co-directors are responsible for the planning of entering student orientation. They will plan daily events and organize student led or student assisted programming. They will be responsible for all room reservations. They will seek, interview and hire the required number of student orientation counselor volunteers. Co-directors will work with the dean in charge of orientation to develop training for orientation counselor volunteers. Co-directors will become increasingly responsible for orientation in total with the facilitation and oversight of the DOS dean in charge of first year students
2 Co-directors: One a rising senior, one a rising junior. Strong involvement in campus activities, groups, etc. Willingness on the part of at least one co-director to remain on campus/in town during the summer months to complete planning. Excellent communication skills with all populations on campus as well as with parents of incoming students is required. Strong organizational skills is a must. Passion for creating a student driven/focused orientation that clearly shares the values and important messages/concerns of the DOS and the college in regards to students beginning at Bates.
